And this scary-looking mofocka is the final boss of the game.  Well, one possible final boss of the game, anyway, since storyline things change pretty drastically depending on what you do earlier (a few specific points in particular.)  This guy is at the end of one particular path through the game, and doesn't appear at all on other paths.
